Grand River

KITCHENER EAST

Grand River North is a small neighbourhood at the east end of Kitchener; it offers a variety of homes built from the late 1980s into the 1990s. Styles in this area range from cute raised bungalows to splendid 2 storey single family homes. Friendly and inviting, the homes are situated on quiet, tree-lined streets.

Grand River South is also a smaller neighbourhood located on the east end of Kitchener, offering newer built homes with continuing development throughout. This area offers a variety of housing from townhomes to single family homes. As the city continues to grow, so does this neighbourhood.

Both communities are located along the banks of the Grand River, providing them with a beautiful back drop and access to The Walter Bean Grand River Trail; a wonderful trail to be enjoyed by hikers and bikers in the summer and cross country skiers and snow shoe enthusiasts in the winter. Grand River North also offers easy access to Highway 7 to downtown Kitchener and to Guelph, whereas Grand River South offers easy access to both Cambridge and the 401 via the new Fairway Road Bridge.

Public school students in Grand River North will attend MacKenzie King Public School for grades JK-6; Stanley Park Public School for grades 7 and 8; and Grand River Collegiate Institute for high school. Public school students in Grand River South will attend Lackner Woods or Chicopee Hill for JK-6; Sunnyside Public School for grades 7 and 8; and finally, attend Grand River Collegiate Institute for high school, as well. Catholic School students in Grand River North will attend Canadian Martyrs Catholic Elementary School for grades JK-8 and Grand River South Catholic students will attend St. John Paul II Catholic Elementary School for JK-8. All Catholic students in both areas will continue their high school education at St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School.
