One of the best kept secrets in Waterloo is Maple Hills, located on the southern border of Kitchener. Maple Hills is a quiet neighbourhood with older homes, most of which are set back from the road and shielded from prying eyes by tall trees. The homes were built in the 1980’s or earlier but maintain their timeless sophistication. Residents of Maple Hills are mostly retired or close to retirement, but there are some young families who have made this neighbourhood their home. Maple Hills continues to maintain a sense of tranquility throughout.
Maple Hills is conveniently located to the Universities, shops and malls, albeit there is no quick route to the Expressway. Due to its close proximity to the Universities, it makes it a popular area for students to seek basement apartments for rent.
There are two community pools, a tennis court, parks and walking trails for all to enjoy. Even in the winter month’s residents can be seen partaking in cross-country skiing, skating, and sledding.
Public school students will be bussed to Empire Public School which does offer its students French immersion for grades JK-6 or Centennial Public School for grades 7-8. Public school students moving on to high school would be attending Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate & Vocational School. Catholic school students in the area would be bussed to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School for JK-8 and move forward into Resurrection Catholic Secondary School for their high school education.
