University Downs is a diverse neighbourhood of young families, retirees, and university students located on the east side of Waterloo. The homes in the area are as diverse as the individuals who call it home, ranging from apartment towers to single family homes. The diversity doesn’t stop there, there are a variety of home styles within the neighbourhood, including bungalows, townhomes, and semi-detached homes. This neighbourhood offers a friendly and exciting atmosphere. Stay active with the walking trails, a community skating rink, and University Downs Park that has a huge area for playing sports or simply having a picnic.
University downs also has an energetic community association that keeps active throughout the year, planning events to build strong ties within the community. Events like neighbourhood softball games, community-wide garage sales, and even an annual Party in the Park are arranged by the association each year.
Public school students in the neighbourhood are bussed to Bridgeport Public School for grades JK-6, moving on to Margaret Avenue Public School for grades 7-8, and finally heading to Bluevale Collegiate Institute to achieve their high school education. Catholic students can attend St. Matthew’s Elementary School for JK-8 before moving onto high school at St. David’s Catholic School.
