Once based on the outer city limits, Westvale has since been embraced by Waterloo through its expansion to the west end of the city. Now considered to be a well-established, much-loved neighbourhood, it dates back more than 30 years. Most homes in Westvale are older, averaging over 25 years old, offering spacious lawns and comfortable distances between neighbours. Homes in the area have a broad range in size, from intimate townhomes to four-bedroom, four-bathroom family homes. Due to its close proximity to the universities, Westvale has become a popular destination for Waterloo student housing. Students are often looking to take up residence in a basement suite of these family homes.

Westvale is conveniently located to many great amenities. The boardwalk offers residents shops, restaurants, entertainment, and a brand new medical center within walking distance. Seniors can also look forward to being a part of this community with the addition of the Westhill Senior Community.

Public school students can look forward to attending Westvale Public School from JK-6 prior to moving on to Centennial Public School, where they will be bussed to. Those students attending high school will be bussed to Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate & Vocational School. Catholic school students are able to attend Holy Rosary Catholic School in Westvale for JK-8 before advancing to Resurrection Catholic Secondary School.
