STEVE SIMMONS

REALTOR®

My Experience

Do you ever find yourself thinking “I should have done this ages ago?” That’s exactly how I feel about becoming a REALTOR®. So many aspects of real estate have played a major role in my adult life. I have been a landlord, a tenant, negotiated commercial leases for my business, helped friends find their family homes just because I enjoy the hunt, acted as a property manager for investment properties and I even sold my own investment property upon finishing up at university.

The first time I came to Guelph from my hometown of Toronto was as a student at the University of Guelph and it ended up changing my life more than I could have ever anticipated. Simply put, I just love it here. The people, the rivers, the restaurants, the pubs, and the music scene. I also love that it is so close to Toronto. I can see my family and enjoy the fun stuff that the big smoke has to offer but we can quickly return to the picturesque serenity of Guelph and the natural beauty of Wellington County. By the time I finished up at UofG, I had owned two homes in town, gaining lots of experience as a landlord. I worked at Wellington Brewery, played on numerous local hockey teams, and played in two locally popular bands. I taught guitar to hundreds of students of all ages and played with my bands in nearly every bar in town as well as numerous times at the locally acclaimed Hillside Festival. I had become a Guelphite!

The last decade took me back to Toronto to work in wholesale, doing deals and negotiating with many of Canada’s major retailers. However, I found this career lacked the meaningful personal relationships that I enjoy developing, and the gratification of helping people reach a goal. During that time I turned from an “I” to a “we” by getting married to my lovely wife and having two great little kids. It was having a family of my own that led me to move back to Guelph and to pursue a career in real estate.

My Approach

I love crunching the numbers, I want to help people shape a better future for themselves and their loved ones, and I love checking out houses! It all makes sense!

Studying and teaching guitar taught me a lot about patience and attention to detail. My goal as a REALTOR® is to build my business in the same way I built my guitar teaching business, which relied solely on referrals from fellow musicians, my students and their families. Growing up playing the highest levels of competitive hockey, soccer and baseball in Toronto, I learned that you don’t get to be successful without hard work, no matter what you’re doing. As a teacher, I developed real and meaningful relationships with both the students and their families, many of whom I’m in touch with to this day. I am looking forward to creating even more relationships within the real estate industry.

My Difference

It's About You
It is my goal to help you calmly, rationally and effectively navigate your way through the experience of purchasing or selling and come out where you want to be - in a better place!

Rolling Up My Sleeves
I don’t mind rolling up my sleeves and doing whatever it is that the job requires - I don’t mind doing the dirty work. I’m also well connected with lots of local trades in the area should we need help along the way.

Open Communication
As my client, you can count on your time always being treated as valuable, your needs and wants mattering to me and you can depend on me being honest with you (even if you may not always like it!) You have my commitment to work hard on your behalf to help you reach your goals, and my continued pursuit of relevant knowledge to help us get there. Not least of all, I will always try to have a bit of fun along the way!
